As I move into my junior and senior years of high school, I am extremely motivated to work even harder to achieve my goals and prepare myself for college.
During my time at TF South my teachers and coaches have recognized my leadership abilities. I was selected as the captain for my basketball team freshman and sophomore years, and I was able to play varsity baseball last year as a sophomore. This year I was also selected to represent the basketball program for our school’s “Captain’s Club” where each team and activity selects one student leader to help administrators with important decisions.
Apart from athletics I have also been asked frequently to participate in weekly video announcements that gets shown to all the students. You can see an
example here (:32-1:51) where I talked about the importance of attendance. In these videos I fill the students in on any important information that they need to know and just encourage everyone to stay persistent with their schoolwork. This past February my teachers and counselors selected me as Student of the Month, acknowledging my hard work in academics, my leadership, and my character. Please view this video (2:57-4:20) of my counselor, teacher, and dean’s assistant talking about me when it was announced.
The Importance of academics:
Aademcs gives the coach a better indication of my personality, discipline, and character.
It guarantees the coach that I will succeed in class not having to worry about losing my academic eligibility.
I am a dedicated student taking a dual credit Foundation of Teaching course as well as several honors courses.
